No advertising. No venture capital. No swing—for—the—exit. MountainRiver aims to be a calm company — built by a small team who share in what they make and are paid fairly for the value they create. The way in isn’t a salary. It’s ownership.
Two core partners working alongside me on the things I can’t do alone. Meaningful equity — roughly 5—10% each — vesting against role, milestones and time.
MountainRiver touches several crafts at once — reflection, sound, ambition, stillness, and the new grammar of AI. Craft Partners go deep in one of them: collaborators, not advisors, who raise the quality of the experience in their domain. Roughly 2% each — up to 2.5% for someone who leads a domain — from a fixed pool. Some domains may share one person; new ones may open as the right people appear.
Advocate—owners from the journaling, note—taking and reflection worlds — writers, coaches, thinkers, quiet builders. Not influencers. People who use MountainRiver, believe in it, and help it find the people it’s for.
Roughly 1—2% each, from a fixed pool, vesting progressively as subscribers grow and stay — and as you contribute to the community and the product.
Tell me who you are, what you’d want to own, and why MountainRiver. I read every one.
MountainRiver works today — but the directions it could grow in are where it gets exciting, and they’re the real reason to build it together. I’ve sketched seven: from an anonymous sharing community and generative media to a deeper contemplative practice, native apps for iPhone and Android, and a fully private, on-device version.
